Introduction

We didn’t expect to change our lives completely. But when my partner Dorian hit 161 kg and became seriously ill from food poisoning, we knew something had to change. What started with a simple list from Harvard became “My London Diet” — a homemade meal plan that helped us lose a combined 83 kilograms without fad diets, pills, or extreme restrictions.

 

Our Wake-Up Call

Dorian was in pain, physically and emotionally. At 161 kg, he had trouble breathing, knee pain, and constant fatigue. Still, he worked every day on construction sites. After his illness, we looked at each other and said: “This is it. Something must change now.”

I enrolled in Harvard Medical School’s online nutrition and lifestyle courses. I also studied programs at Wageningen University. We didn’t join a gym. We didn’t count every calorie. We went to the kitchen. Every night, I took what I learned and put it straight into our kitchen.

The Results Were Immediate

Within the first week, the weight started coming off — slowly, steadily, and naturally.

In total, Dorian lost 62 kg. I lost 20 kg. And we never felt more energised.
